Here’s the wevelo guide to our favourite cycling leg warmers

Cycling leg warmers are designed to be worn underneath a pair of bib shorts. They come in a couple of different lengths, full, which covers your thighs to ankles or as knee warmers that reach just below the knee and above the calf. These two options should suit most situations.

Apart from keeping your legs warm during a cold ride, you have the benefit of being able to remove them mid-ride should you get too warm and put them back on if need be. This makes them incredibly versatile due to the ever-changing British weather. You might set off in the cold but soon find it’s too warm for leg warmers.

A decent set of leg warmers should be tight fitting enough so that they won’t slip down or move up and cause chaffing. You should also look for a warm fleece inner, rainproof coating and zips on the back to aid getting on and off, although the latter is not that important.

As mentioned in our previous post about arm warmers, it’s best to buy a couple of sizes just to make sure you get the fit right.
